Sushi
has become so common in the US that it's almost considered fast food. Good
news for those of us who love it. Sushi can now be found at most major
supermarkets. Safeway, Albertsons, Kroger, HEB, they all have fresh sushi
for sale. Some even employ true professionals who keep the refrigerated
display stocked with quality salmon, tuna, hand rolls, and other sushi
concoctions at reasonable prices. Keep it up I say!
Far be it from me to
complain, but I'm going to anyway.
The key to true Japanese sushi is #1 Fresh Ingredients & #2 Good Rice
Vinegar. The latter is often missing. Put a good dose of rice vinegar into
the rice, please. This is often missing and is probably the reason why you
say, "hey, this tastes like real sushi" or "hey, this is kind of bland"
In Japan it's not likely to be forgotten but in the US where sushi chefs
may be trained in a week and from any country, it's often overlooked. Thus I
plead to all who prepare sushi for the masses in the US - Put good rice
vinegar into the rice. We do notice.
