Shibata Katsuie (柴田 勝家) (1530
-
83) was a
Japanese military commander during the
Sengoku Period who served to
Oda Nobunaga.
His forces, under the leadership of
Sakuma Morimasa, besieged
Nakagawa Kiyohide at
Shizugatake. Sakuma ignored Shibata's orders and was destroyed by
Toyotomi Hideyoshi's forces.
The loss was so severe that Katsuie committed suicide.
